THE FORCE OF COLOR:

​

The Force of Color emerged in response to a world in visible imbalance—marked by war, climate collapse, displacement, inequality, racism, homophobia, mental illness, homelessness, and disconnection. Amid this turbulence, the work searches for stillness: a fragile pause where reflection becomes possible.

​

Texture carries memory. Cracks and fractures echo a sense that something is out of joint, revealing tension alongside resilience. Geometry becomes a means of reconciliation, holding symmetry and asymmetry, order and disruption, in quiet dialogue. The work reflects the human condition as both broken and enduring.

Influenced by Kant’s idea of beauty as contemplative rather than functional, these paintings ask only for presence. In the spirit of “When I paint, I don’t think about art, I think about life,” the work invites pause, introspection, and stillness. Meaning is not imposed, but arises subjectively, shaped by the inner world of each viewer.

ARTIST BIO:

 

Omar was born in Cali, Colombia, and immigrated to New York City at seventeen with his family. While navigating hardship, work, and periods of instability, he pursued his education—earning a GED, an associate degree from LaGuardia Community College, and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Stony Brook University.

​

His artistic education unfolded through years of close observation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the Whitney, and the Museum of Photography, where immersion in the works of great masters shaped his understanding of color, composition, light, and texture.

​

Rooted in philosophy and ancient history, Omar’s work explores introspection, resilience, and cultural memory. In 2000, he relocated to Barcelona, opening an art gallery specializing in contemporary art and antiques. He now lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
